Any foods can fit into a healthy meal plan. There are no forbidden or bad foods. The key is finding foods you enjoy that will allow for consistency over a lifetime. This is why it is called a lifestyle modification. We have found that being too restrictive backfires and results in the up and down yoyoing of most weight loss journeys. To lose weight you need a calorie deficit. To lose weight in a healthy way that can be maintained over time, aim for mostly homemade meals that are made from mostly unprocessed whole foods, such as vegetables, legumes and lean meats.
